Genealogical Evidence Systems, LLC is developing Lineage Audit, a genealogy research-assistance and evidence-analysis product. The product is not yet generally available.

Data we expect to process

If authorized integrations are enabled, the service may process genealogy data that a user chooses to analyze, account identifiers needed for authentication, source metadata, relationship information, user-supplied research materials, and technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.

Authentication

We intend to use providers' documented authorization systems. We will not ask users to give us their FamilySearch password.

AI-assisted processing

The current prototype uses an AI-assisted research client. When a user requests analysis, the service may send the minimum genealogy data needed for that request to the configured AI service provider so the requested research analysis can be generated. FamilySearch passwords, OAuth access tokens, refresh tokens, client secrets, and other service credentials are not intended to be sent to the AI client.

Use of genealogy data

Genealogy data will be used to provide requested research and evidence-analysis functions, maintain security, diagnose errors, and improve the service as permitted by applicable agreements and user consent. We do not intend to sell users' genealogy data.

Record-content boundary

FamilySearch Tree data and source metadata are not treated as equivalent to the content of an underlying historical record. Where FamilySearch requires record inspection on FamilySearch, the product will direct users there. Deeper record-level analysis may also use records or transcriptions a user supplies or that are available through another authorized source.

Retention and deletion

Retention practices will be finalized before public launch. The design goal is to minimize stored third-party genealogy data and retain credentials and tokens only as needed to provide authorized functionality.

Third-party services

Authorized integrations and AI service providers may be governed by additional terms and privacy rules of the applicable third-party provider.
